When She Was Bad
Buffy’s back for the first episode of Season 2!After a summer with her father in L.A., Buffy returns to Sunnydale noticeably less sunny. Her near death experience at the hand of the Master months before has given her a serious case of the wiggins, and she’s not handling it well. (Highlight of the episode, watch poor Xander squirm while Buffy tries to seduce him with the dance of the veiled bitca!)
Meanwhile The Annointed One has hatched a plan to resurrect The Master…unfortunately for our Scoobies, that requires the sacrifice of everyone that had been in the vicinity of The Master when he died…in this case, Willow, Miss Calendar, Giles and Cordelia. Buffy realizes the importance of her friends when she is forced to save them and her less bitchy, more quippy self returns.
Directed by: Joss Whedon
Original Air Date: September 15, 1997
Guest Stars: Dean Butler (Hank Summers)
Trivia:
- David Boreanaz became a regular cast member as of this episode.
- Apparently, Giles, Willow and Xander (it is assumed) figured taking the Master’s bones from the library and burying him three feet deep in the Sunnydale Cemetary covered in soil watered with holy water was a good enough defense to keep him from coming back. Silly Scoobies.
Quotes:Cordelia: Whatever is causing the Joan Collins ‘tude, deal with it. Embrace the pain, spank your inner moppet, whatever, but get over it.
Willow: That’s what it was! I mean, why else would she be acting like such a b-i-t-c-h?
Giles: Willow, I think we’re all a little too old to be spelling things out.
Xander: A bitca?
Key Events:
- Season 2 starts.
- Joss directs his second episode
- Buffy totally confuses poor Xander by dancing seductively with him at the Bronze.

I think Xander uses the door in the stacks in School Hard to escape from the school and go get Angel, I don’t know. Great cast, can’t wait for more.

Hey, you guys ought to install a forum on this site, where people can log on and have avatars and stuff. I bet it would be huge! The podcast Fear the Boot started off with no forums, and I and this other listener kept bugging them to install some, and they didn’t for a little while, and then when they finally did a whole lot of people signed up, and now they have some of the most active forums anywhere. Forums will let you have threaded conversations about specific topics and stuff, and will let your listeners form a community. Do it!

did anyone else notice Angel’s “why you ridin’ me?”

Great episode as usual, although there seemed to be a technical timing glitch with a couple of the audio-clips in the first half of the episode. As for the episode of Buffy, I liked it but I agree with you guys as it was kind of middle of the road quality for the series.
Willow is the hottness. She is exactly the kind of girl I go for. Redhead, smart, cute, kinda naive, and turns out to be lesbian… I’m not kidding. At least two previous girlfriends of mine “discovered” they were lesbian sometime after we dated and are now happily with their same-sex significant others. Faith is also rather hot, but in a far more scary way.
I would also agree with Jim on the Forum thing. They are relatively easy to get set up and going, so it would be little work for you guys.

Thanks for catching the audio glitch Dragavan, the episode has been updated so any new downloads of it shouldn’t have it. I’ve thought about setting up forums but have held back because of problems with post spam in the past.
I’ll get a forum started but I won’t have a lot of time to moderate it. Stay tuned.

Dry humping?
Trying to start a fire with her crotch?
Such language. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Make sure you have more of it.

Hey all,
I’ve been a longtime listener and am happy to see you’ve started on season 2.
I also heard the horrible news of Fox’s selfishness in cancelling the traveling musical. Fortunately, I had the oppurtunity to see it when it was here in NY. All I have to say is that it was amazing. If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask and keep up the great work!

Just wanted to say this podcast is awesome! I was listening to your podcast and I can’t remember if it was in this episode or the one for Prophecy Girl but you said both Dracula and the Master had hypnotizing powers but I was watching Becoming parts 1&2 and remember Drusilla also had those same kind of powers. Also I found interesting that Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof are married. Well keep up the good work and YAY Buffy!

Just wanted to comment on your statement about a new costume designer for season two. ITS TRUE! The designer for season one was booted after that season.
Gotta love IMDB!

Just heard this! Sorry you were on the list just before we got canceled. Damn!
As soon as we get started again, we’ll be back to Columbus - ticket sales at Cinema 35 were really good, so they have been more than open to bringing it back once we overcome our legal hurdle. Thanks for mentioning us - and I really enjoyed your podcast.

PS - Kathleen was right about why we were shut down. Our issue however is not about how much money we were making, but about paying out back end residuals for actors, writers, etc., something Fox does not have a system for in regards to television shows. We’re hoping to be the first ones to finally make that happen - but of course there’s a lot of legal tape to dance around.
