Inca Mummy Girl
Xander’s luck in women looks like it’s turning around as he falls for the beautiful foreign exchange student Ampata, who is staying at Buffy’s place. But wasn’t Buffy’s exchange student supposed to be a guy? And what about that mummy that seems to have escaped from the local museum? And is that an actual Incan warrior running around Sunnydale?
Directed by: Ellen S. Pressman
Original Air Date: October 6, 1997
Guest Stars:
Ara Celi (Ampata Gutierrez)
Seth Green (Daniel ‘Oz’ Osbourne)

- Xandar and Ampata had to eat up to ten twinkies each for each take of the scene in which they are eating lunch. Life is truly cruel on the hellmouth. (ugh!)

Buffy “Good for you.”
Willow “Well, I didn’t choose yet.”
Giles “You can’t go to the dance, you have responsibilities that other girls do not.”
Buffy “Oh! I know this one! Slaying entails certain sacrifices, blah, blah, bitty blah, I’m so stuffy, gimme a scone.”
Key Events:
- Oz makes his first appearance!
- Jonathan makes his first (very short…no pun intended, Jonathan!) appearance!

Not a huge fan of this episode, so your coverage of it was “good enough” in my book… but your episode seemed kind of short this time around. Was it just me?
You covered all the important parts to me. Willow being noticed (and looking really cute as an eskimo if you ask me) by Oz… Oh, and instructions on how to eat a Twinkie. Yeah, that’s about it.
Subtle correlation between twinkie preservatives and mummification. I doubt that any writer intended this.
Ms. Celi went on to a recurring role in SMG’s Emmy home, ‘All My Children’. Her most recent work was doing
voice-work for video games. My favorite overall part of the episode is Chris Beck’s score. It was the 3rd
ep. crediting him (another 56 were to follow). I’ve utilized IMDb to further geekify this posting. I hope
you guys can finish all 144 eps. before the end of 2019! Try using the improbability drive. I’m starting
to wonder what Aly was wearing under that costume.
I actually, really love this episode.
The tragic “villain” that mirrors Buffy’s obligation and desires…Heck, she mirrors Buffy nearly completely. She comments on how she was the one chosen to protect her ppl from those from “the underworld”. She wants to be a normal girl, but cannot be with the guy she likes b/c of what will happen to him.
Also, I really loved her and Xander as a couple.
I just wanted to let you guys know that that I caught this virus from your website:

It’s easy to remove but still I think you should do something about it.
Thanks jarppu, I’ve deleted the iframe (still not sure how it got in there) and we’re updating our WordPress install. Thanks for watching out for us.
