Buffy, in her never ending quest to try and just be a normal high schooler, gets caught up in Cordelia’s newest obsession…College Frat Guys. While this is always a bad idea, it’s an especially bad choice in Sunnydale, where we learn that the Delta Zeta Kappa guys sacrifice their dates once a year to an Evil Snake God.

Directed by: David Greenwalt
Original Air Date:
October 13, 1997

Guest Stars:
Greg Vaughn (Richard)
Todd Babcock (Tom)
Jordana Spiro (Callie)
Robin Atkin Downes (Machida the Snake God)

Trivia:

  • Jordana Spiro, who plays Callie, the third girl captured for the sacrifice to Machida, currently stars as P.J. Franklin in the TBS sitcom “My Boys”. Kathleen spotted her instantly.

Quotes:
Willow “Well, why do you think she went to that party? Because you gave her the brush-off…And you never let her do anything except work and patrol. And I know she’s the Chosen One, but you’re killing her with the pressure. I mean, she’s sixteen going on forty…And you! I mean, you’re gonna live forever. You don’t have time for a cup of coffee?…Okay, I don’t feel better now, and we’ve gotta help Buffy.”

Cordelia “You guys! I just hate you guys! The weirdest things happen around you!”

Key Events:

  • er…not a lot. This is kind of a filler episode (though Willow telling off Giles and Angel rocked!)

Something weird is going on with the sound. It cuts out completely (but briefly) every 30 seconds or so. I am playing it through iTunes on a Macbook which doesn’t seem unusual. Oh, well, at least it’s only Reptile Boy.

  • Jim in Buffalo:

I noticed the exact same thing. I was listening on my iPod on my way to work, and I kept wondering if something was wrong with the connection between my player and my car stereo.

Definitely something wrong with the MP3 file.

  • A new version of the MP3 is up. I’m not sure if it will propagate and replace the MP3 that may already have been downloaded via iTunes. Worst case you can download the new MP3 directly from the link above.

    Welcome back…I love the podcasts,
being the huge Buffy geek that I am…
I’ve seen every episode like at least 8
times…I have no life(that’s not really
    true) although my girlfriend may
disagree. Hope the next one’s out soon…

  • The medical and internet connection problems of the last three days must have saved me from the bad file. It all sounded good to me (and I got it through iTunes).

Overall it was another good episode from you guys and I agree that this episode was a little “meh” and felt like filler. It had it’s moments, but overall I would have given it a 2 (I don’t believe in halves, if you are going to include halves you might as well just be using a 10 point system). Looking forward to your next one.

Hey guys it’s so good to have a new episode but yeah I was all o_O because of how the file sounded on my ipod. Looking forward to the new episodes!!

I love your podcast…great Buffy commentary! Here is some help with figuring out when Buffy runs into Angel while he is picking up his blood: That episode is “Prom Night”, Season 3 Episode 20. Buffy and Angel have broken up and she is investigating the Hellhounds on her own. She goes to the butcher/slaughterhouse to find out who is buying brains to feed the Hellhounds and runs into Angel while he is picking up his blood supply. The episode where Buffy’s mom is in the hospital (before she goes in to have her brain tumor removed) and she is later attacked by the Queller demon the thing hanging from the ceiling) at home is “Listening to Fear”, Season 5 Episode 9. Angel is no longer on the show at this point.
