Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered
Valentine’s Day sucks in Sunnydale. Cordelia breaks up with Xander to make her silence the mocking of her friends, even though in her heart it’s not what she wants. In his heartbroken state, Xander blackmails Amy to cast a love spell, but it goes horribly awry and every woman in Sunnydale, except Cordy, becomes pathologically attracted to him. Love the podcast gets me through work during the day. Heard you guys are thinking of doing a dollhouse podcast PLEASE do one soon all the other ones out there suck. Yay buffy!!
Again with the greatness… and I even enjoyed the Dollhouse chat at the end (although I agree with the hoping it improves because it’s not growing on me that much yet).
This is one of the many great episodes of this overall great season (although not the greatest in my book). I loved the growth of the characters and the true pain shown all over this episode. Truly one of the best acted episodes of the show. No doubt abut that. My rating would be 4 1/2 Mr. Pointies.
BBB was one of my fave episodes during the Scoobies’ high school days. Nick Brendon knocked this one out of the park, particularly any scene he had with his new groupies. (The scene with Miss Calendar has never been anything less than friggin’ HI-LARIOUS.)
I believe the name of the other cat shown on Buffy would be her eminence, Miss Kitty Fantastico. We see her two times that I know of, one of those being restless where they show this little tiny kitten totally pulling a B.A. stalker walk. I for one refuse to believe Dawn’s crossbow story – MKF was way too clever to fall for such trickery.
Another excellent ep – keep up the tremendous work. Can I make an early request that you have as many commentators as possible available to discuss my fave eps of Season 2, “Passion” and “Becoming”, parts 1 & 2. They’re not funny (ok, fleeting minutes of them are) but I’d love to have Buffy fans en masse giving their opinion on these series altering episodes.
Thanks for the great work!
Amy turns into the rat in Gingerbread season 3. Like you said, in season 4 she is momentarily turned back, however doesn’t come back fully until season 6 when Willow just realizes she can do it as simple as that. Remember Amy goes to Buff “how are you” Buff “Dead” “you?” Amy “rat”. So yeah, she’s a rat for 3 yrs.
Troy, I have the same reservations about dollhouse as you do. The lack of character relationships that makes Whedon shows so good. I actually thought the nerd was Andrew the first ep – for a minute.
Oh and one more thing…As much as I love Eliza, she can’t play the Amazonian warrior WW. You need someone statuesque. Also, I was first bummed about Joss not getting the WW movie, but the more i think about it, they’ll probably gonna go more greek mythology with it. I’d like to see someone like Zack Snyder tear it up! But of course, after 300 and Watchmen, I think they should let this guy do every superhero movie:)
I was looking around at places that mentioned me and I found this place… Not bad, I thought, but then I saw this page… Come on people… I made ONE mistake over a year ago and people just can’t seem to let it go… I learned. No more messing with magic. Dangerous stuff… But still people have to bring up this whole love spell gone all wonky thing.
Not like any of that matters now… I don’t think Cordy will ever forgive me for what happened more recently.
Anyway, keep up the good work on the show, but please try and talk about the better things in my life… like the time I saved the whole school from cake… Not that anyone actually knows about that… But I did help kill that fat demon last week… Well, sure, Buffy did most of the work, but, still, I was there… and helped… More than Faith at least.
This was a great episode. I loved that scene with Xander and Giles where Xander says he’s twice the fool to do something like this.
A few years ago, I went through a Frank Sinatra phase and imagine my surprise when I found out he had a song called “Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered” I always thought that was a strange ep name, but now I get it!
