Buffy vs Edward
So, as Jason said here, the Watchercast is having what we hope is a brief hiatus. So, while you’re waiting, I figured I would throw up what I found to be a reeeeally satisfying YouTube clip that was talked about on one of the podcasts I listen to each week.
Buffy would be a MUCH better foil for Edward than Bella. Yay kick ass women!

Fun video. Always nice to see a feminist rebuttal of Twilight. Although, the fact that a lot of Buffy’s dialogue was originally in reference to Spike brings up some possibly troubling questions.
A consistent sound track and little color correction would have really added a lot to it, but eh, I guess I’m just picky like that.
Also: I do hope that this hiatus is brief.

We’ll do our best. Keep an eye out for a “Save the Watchercast” bake sale, coming to a neighborhood near you!

Interesting video for sure. I find it funny how it bounces around so much, mostly out of necessity, in order to manufacture some continuity in the “storyline” they’re portraying there. Fun mashup.

I’ve just watched the Twilight movie tonight. Gah, if it wasn’t because I was watching it with mates and having a laugh, I would have turned it off pretty fast. Predictable plot, a snore-fest of a romance. Ans the acting… especially the leads… I cannot figure out if it’s bad acting, direction or writing. Or if they were simply meant to appear that way. I could not connect with the characters at all. And don’t even get me started on the soppy camera work.
But this movie (the mash up) is fun, and pretty well made. It must’ve taken quite some time. And Buffy is clearly so much more awsome than Bella. That girl just seems so meek and forgettable (why would anyone fall in love with her at first sight like that?). But Buffy’s got spunk.
I just realised what Twilight is completely missing: Humour! Something Buffy (the character and the show) has in spades.
Sorry for the rant!

As an anti-Twilight girl, I loved the part at the end where she killed Edward. I only wish that meant no more Twilight.

I’m a new buffy fan, just recently at 34 watched the entire season from April until now, thanks torrents. At any rate, glad to find this site and to see buffy is still alive and around somewhere, because I want to talk about it like it’s primetime tv still.

This is such a well done video! I’ve been a hardcore buffy fan going on 5 years now, been through the series of Buffy and Angel 5 or 6 times, and it’s good to know that other Buffy fans agree that Buffy could totally kick Edwards ass. The whole series Twilight seems intriguing to the amateur vampire fans but it’s missing the wonderful witty comedic relief and archetypal journey that makes Buffy such a memorable show that continues on with its cult fans way past its air dates. Plus, did ya notice in all the Twilight clips it was completely dull and gray, whilst the Buffy clips had some great sets and feels to it. Thanks for posting this vid, it made my day!

Haha, I just watched that video! I love how Buffy’s just like, “Stfu, weird vampire, with a low, boring voice.” She won’t have none of that. lol Btw, I think it’d be fun if you guys made a podcast (or just put it at the end of a podcast) about your opinions of Twilight.
