Haunted by her discovery of two murdered children, Joyce rallies the town into a witch hunt.

Directed by: James Whitmore, Jr.
Original Air Date: January 12, 1999
Guest Stars:

Elizabeth Anne Allen as Amy Madison
Armin Shimerman as Principal Snyder
Jordan Baker as Sheila Rosenberg
Kristine Sutherland as Joyce Summers
Harry Groener as Mayor Richard Wilkins III
Trivia:
    • Giles’s translation of the German article on the computer was accurate.
    • Willow’s parents obviously do not pay very much attention to her, as this episode made very clear. Among other things, her mom refers to Buffy as “Bunny” twice, and didn’t even know that Willow had cut her hair.

Quotes:
Buffy: “I’m like the kid in the story, the boy that stuck his finger in the duck.”
Angel: “Dike. It’s another word for dam.”
Buffy: “Oh, OK, that story makes a lot more sense now.”

Giles: They’re confiscating my books.
Buffy: Giles, we need those books.
Giles: Believe me, I tried to tell that to the nice man with the big gun.

Key Events:

    • Amy has been turned into a rat.
    • Willow is coming into her own as a witch.

In Other News:

    • There has been talk of rebooting the Buffy movie.  No one likes the idea, especially former cast members.
    • Here is the actual green Giles mug (Screen used green mug)

Hey guys. Listen, I don’t want to be picky, because you truly have a great show and really know your stuff.

But here’s the thing – I realize you warned listeners in the beginning that it was going to be a silly one, and I appreciate that. However, this really isn’t the only podcast that’s been a lot of off topic talk. It’s happened the past couple of episodes. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind a little, especially when you’re talking about other shows or books I like. However, there’s often long gaps between episodes, and when I realize 30 minutes of an hour long new one is stuff not related to the topic at all, it is very disappointing.

It also often makes the show hard to follow. For instance, someone will mumble something, and everyone starts laughing and starts talking about something completely irrelevant, and I’m confused until I realize five minutes later that we’re not talking about the show anymore.

I’m really not saying I don’t want you guys to have fun. Podcasts that are strictly on topic can be very boring. But when you guys first started, you always found that common ground, and I appreciated it. Even if it had nothing to do with the podcast, mentioning someone’s weird phase in high school made me laugh, or hearing about something that happened at comic con. However, last episode and the past few episodes have been more about other things, and as much as I hate to say it… that is not why I subscribed.

I’m sorry I have to leave this message, and I’m sorry I have to leave it here in lieu of any email address I could find. Feel free to delete it – I know it’s not the sort of thing you’re supposed to post.

    Thank you,

    Liz

Nah, that’s a fair comment, Liz. Yeah, we’ve been a little ramble-y the past few times. I think it just is going to depend on the night. Sorry if that’s off-putting, however that’s just kind of how the podcast has gone recently. Not sure that is going to change? I only say that because we’ve kind of gotten into our groove as a group now, and the rambling thing has worked for us. Some people even like it, I think (seeing as how our numbers seem to continue to grow) However, I’m curious if others feel that way?

I will totally agree, however, that we need to do better to stay on the mike and make it easier to follow our conversations. We are always just talking off the cuff, and we honestly forget sometimes the reason we’re there. This is the way Jason, Kathleen and I talk whenever we have a chance to sit down together, and we sometimes get lost ourselves. Thus the recent refrains of “bringing it back, bringing it back”.

Again, sorry about the off-topic conversations. We’ll probably try and reign that in a bit. It can get people lost.

By the way, the best place for a thread like this would probably be the “Watchercast Facebook Group”, which is listed on that right nav. It’s a super friendly community and I’d be curious to see what they might say about something like this. (I think I’ll ask them!)

Hi all enjoying your podcast, but one mistake was made. You need to reedit your gingerbread episode, because around the 42min mark or around that mark your podcast restarts at the opening half of the show again ,so your 2nd half is missing.could you please fix it? Just wanted to let you know. Thanks Robert

LOL, Yeah you guys and girls were rambling a bunch lately, heh. Love the show! I’ve been listening for a LONG time:) Can’t wait till you get to season 6 and 7 in like 20 years.LOL
“Mom, dead people are talking to you, do the math!”-Buffy
“Just so we’re clear, you guys know you’re nuts, right?”-Oz

Season 3 was always my favorite season and yeah, I too remember watching 1st airings when Columbine disrupted the flow of this season. However,I’ve come to like Season 4 the best after viewing them all like countless times. Everyone rags on S4 but I think (as does Joss) that it has some of the best eps of all 7…now I’m rambling. Keep it going, love you guys!

Thanks to a horribly neglected lawn, I am now caught up with the episodes. Word to the wise for all folks downloading the episodes; when listening on your mp3 player, do not hit “Random”. It can get really confusing.
