Prophecy Girl
Giles discovers a prophecy that Buffy will face the Master and die. Terrified, she wants to quit as a Slayer but an incident in the school, which upsets Willow, makes Buffy decide to face her destiny. The Master drowns her but she’s resuscitated by Xander. Buffy finally kills the Master.

Trivia:
- The demon coming out of the Hellmouth at the end of “Prophecy Girl” was supposed to be frightening, however, seeing as how most mid-season replacements don’t have that big a budget, Joss had to make do with several people each wearing a “tentacle” costume and wiggling around.
- This is the first Buffy episode directed by Joss Whedon.

Out Of Mind, Out Of Sight
Marcie Ross is a quiet, unpopular girl in school who is ignored so much that she becomes invisible. She blames Cordelia and sets out to ruin her and her friends by hurting them in different ways. Cordelia is forced to turn to Buffy and her friends for protection, against all their wishes.

A young boy is put in a coma and his nightmare world begins to take over Sunnydale. Everyone’s nightmares start to literally come true. Buffy rushes to help the boy before the world goes completely crazy – whilst having to deal with her own nightmare: she’s (temporarily!) become a vampire.

The Puppet Show
Sunnydale High’s new Principal – Snyder – forces Giles to run the school’s annual talent(less) show. Things start to go wrong when a demon begins to steal body parts from those taking part.
