Bad Eggs
The scoobies are taken to “sitcom plot device land” as they are each given an egg to look after as an exercise in parenting. Of course, since this IS Sunnydale, the eggs do not contain sweet, fuzzy chicks, but rather vile, facesucking, mind-controlling “bezoars”. Luckily, Buffy and Xandor manage to avoid being taken over by the nasty creatures, and rush off to save their friends from…whatever that is under the school. Also, in this episode, we are introduced to two of the meanest, toughest, rootin-tootin-est vampires to ever walk the vast plains of California! (Those Gorch brothers rock!)
Directed by: David Greenwalt
Original Air Date: January 12, 1998
Guest Stars:
Jeremy Ratchford (Lyle Gorch)
James Parks (Tector Gorch)
Trivia:
- Lyle and Tector Gorch where two characters from the 1969 movie “The Wild Bunch“, which starred William Holden and Ernest Borgnine.
- We learn in this episode that Angel can’t have children.
Quotes:
Giles: “I suppose there is a sort of Machiavellian ingenuity to your transgression.”
Xander: “I resent that… or, possibly, thank you.”
Tector: “That the Slayer?”
Lyle: “Yep.”
Tector: “Ain’t that Angelus with her?”
Lyle: “Yep.”
Tector: “Well, how come she ain’t slayin’? And how come he’s about to make me blush?”

What’s My Line, parts 1 & 2
It’s a two-fer this time on the Watchercast, as we discuss the two-part horror that is Kendra, the Vampire Slayer. She arrives in town at the same time as the Order of Taraka, sometimes human (sometimes bug) assassins that have been hired by Spike to keep the Slayer busy as he tries to find a cure for his creepy girlfriend, Drusilla. And, as with most things that take place on the Hellmouth, this cure requires a sacrifice…in this case, the sire of Drusilla, Angel. And Xander and Cordillia kiss. A lot.
Directed by: David Solomon (part 1) & David Semel ( part 2)
Original Air Date: November 17, 1997 (part 1) & November 24, 1997 (part 2)
Guest Stars:
Bianca Lawson (Kendra)
Kelly Connell (Bug-sassin)
Saverio Guerra (Willy)
Spice Williams (Policewoman Assassin)
Trivia:
- We get several visits to “Willy’s Tavern” in these episodes, a shady bar that caters to the shadow-y supernatural type.
- We get the second slayer showing up in this episode because, even it was for a short time, Buffy did die in the final episode of Season 1.
Quotes:
Angel: “You’re in danger, do you know what this ring means?”
Buffy: “I just killed a Superbowl Champ?”
Buffy: “You and bug people, Xander…what’s up with that?”
