Buffyverse

From Wikipedia:

Buffyverse” is a term coined by fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel to refer to the shared fictional universe in which they are set. The boundaries of the Buffyverse have grown over the years.

The Buffyverse established by these many stories is a place in which supernatural phenomenon is undeniable. The existence of vampires and demons is challenged by people willing to fight against such forces.

    Hey guys,

This is Lee, writing from Nashville. Love the podcast and just finished rewatching Buffy with my boyfriend—who was a long-resisting Buffy-fan-in-waiting (his mom is a die-hard too). One of my favorite things about the show is playing “Spot the Future Famous Person” (one of most-notables being Kal Penn—Harold and Kumar, The Namesake—as a loaded frat boy in “Beer Bad.” Well I just, like this second, started watching Angel for the first time. The first vampire you meet: Josh Holloway (aka Sawyer from Lost, my other obsession). Thought you would appreciate it. Looking forward to more podcasts.

  • Troy:

Seriously!?!! I totally didn’t know that. Kathleen is gonna freak. I almost don’t want to point this post out to her, so I can watch her reaction when we get to that episode.

Of course, at the rate we’re going, that will be in 2034, so maybe I’ll mention it to her. =)

  • Tracy:

kal penn is also the guy in angel that gives cordy killer visions, fyi

  • Speaking of spotting famous peeps… I think the epi is in Season 2 so we should be hearing from you guys on this soon… It’s the episode where Xander joins the swimteam. Watch out for Prison Break’s Wentworth Miller! He is one of the “swimjocks” :)

Thank you for the fabulous podcast! I look forward to listening to your reviews on all 7 seasons and beyond!!!

  • Lee:

Kal Penn is also one of the fratty dudes in “Beer Bad,” season 4.

  • Hana:

Thank you so much for keeping Buffy alive.

  • Jim in Buffalo:

When you get to the episode “Family” in Season Five, look for Amy Adams, star of Disney’s new movie “Enchanted,” as Tara’s meek and mind-controlled sister, Beth.

  • Jason:

I knew I had seen her before! Thanks for clearing that up, it was driving me batty.

  • Hii guys,
I really love your podcast and it is so funny, with hearing the quotes and stuff..
But you don’t do the podcast weakly, and I always have to look is there a new one. So can, you guys, maybe every week or every two weeks do a podcast
P.S.: keep the quotes in, there so funny..
    Thank you
    Laura from Belgium

  • Hi all!

Just found your podcast and I absolutely love it! You all have such a great group dynamic. I fully intend to encourage all of my Buffy knitting group members to listen in. Keep them coming!

    Kelly

  • Troy:

There is a “Buffy Knitting Group”?! That is so freaking cool! (found it! http://buffykal.blogspot.com/ ) Wow. Buffy fans rock.

  • Martha:

I adore your podcast, and have been constantly listening to it for the past few days. I wish that you would do a little more analysis, but I like the commentary on quotes.

I’d like to know who each of your favorite couples are, and which pairings you can’t stand.

    Great podcast and website!
    -Martha

  • Sage:

Hi!!!! i love the podcast, i just discovered it about a month ago and immediately downloaded every episode onto my ipod, im actually listening to “the Witch” right now. keep it up, you guys do such a good job, and i love going back to check out episodes of Buffy for the things i missed. Thanks!!!!

  • TONY:

Been over a month since we heard from you guys. Hope your enjoying this holiday time of year! Wishing all of you the best in 2009 and looking forword to new episodes!

  • Hey! I love the podcast so much, I literally get so happy when a new one pops up on my ipod in the morning on the subway that i squeak and people get kinda annoyed (its New York, they get annoyed if you breathe too loudly) but I just love that I’m not the only on this obsessed with the show. Your podcast actually inspired me and my best friend to start a Buffy journal where we’re gonna watch each episode alone and write anything about it in the book and then when we go off to different colleges we can mail it back and forth, like the traveling pants but better, cause, well … Buffy.

oh and as for celebrities idk if anyone watches Grey’s Anatomy but Joe the Bartender (Steve Bailey) was the cave demon in Grave, Two to Go and Villian

So yea, huuuuuuge fan, and can’t wait til Feb 8 when Joss is at comiccon in NYC with the DollHouse panel and preview with Eliza, Amber and Seth :D :D :D

  • theimmortaljedi:

let’s hope another one is on the way!

  • Troy:

    Hey guys!

If you read our latest post (“Don’t call it a comeback!”) you probably already have heard this news, but…YES! The Watchercast is going to try something new…”a schedule”! w00t!

Wish us luck, and keep your ears and eyes open for more…

  • Have any of you seen all the Buffyverse people on Twitter? There are a ton of them… and more seem to show up all the time. I do my best to keep collecting any new ones that show up in the twitter wiki I found: https://twitter.pbwiki.com/Fakers (about 1/3 of the way down the page).

There seems to be two groups doing different timeframes of the Buffyverse.
One is doing a realtime, episode by episode reenactment of the series (which seems to have been started by http://twitter.com/Xander and joined by others), they are currently up t the middle of Season 3. Some are really worth following.
    http://twitter.com/Xander
    http://twitter.com/BuffySummers
    http://twitter.com/Willow_R
    http://twitter.com/SpikePratt
    http://twitter.com/OzTheWolf
http://twitter.com/Wesley_Pryce (been posting about life in England as he prepares to come to Sunnydale)

The other group seem to take place sometime after the series ended and possibly even after the comics, but not following any specific timeline. The core of this group seems to be a couple people playing a couple characters each (based on how they post in clumps), but there is no way to know for sure if this is the case.
    http://twitter.com/buffy_a_summers
    http://twitter.com/faithlehane
    http://twitter.com/willowrosen
    http://twitter.com/spikethebloody

There are also several others that are just there or that have fallen quiet for many months. Some of them may be interesting to read, if not that active.
http://twitter.com/Angel_us (Seems kind of random, although sometimes interacts with other groups)
http://twitter.com/Dawn_Summers (does random entries from her diary)
http://twitter.com/Glorificus (pops in and out when she gains control)

There are also some real actors showing up on there now, including Tara herself (Amber Benson): http://twitter.com/amber_benson

Figured I would share my Twitter geekdom in this area… Join on in and let me know if you find any other “Fakers” out there (even non-Buffyverse ones) so we can keep adding to that great wiki they started.

Hey Guys, Love the Show all the way from Canada. I love the way you guys talk about Buffy one of my favorite shows of all time. • Steven:

First, I just want to complement you on a very well done podcast. I look forward to each episode and enjoy listening to the 3 of you disect each episode.

As for your comments on Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-long Blog and Joss Whedon’s appearance on This American Life, I just listened to it online and need to correct something you and the website said. The song that Joss performed was NOT from the commentary track for the DVD. It was a brand new song that he wrote just for This American Life. As for the commentary track, you guys HAVE to get the DVD for that track alone. It’s not a serious commentary track (Joss saves that for the normal, non-singing track) but is a spoof of commentaries. He brings together the cast (Nathan Fillion, Felicia Day and Neil Patrick Harris) and the writers and do an hour-long spoof complete with a song where Nathan says that he’s better than Neil in every way. My favorite from that track is “$10 solo” which is sung by a girl who had a bit part in the movie and got to sing a solo on the commentary because she paid Joss $10 (hence the title).

Keep up the great work and I look forward to future episodes.

    In your words…..YEAH BUFFY!
